Common reversible risk factors for atherosclerosis are smoking, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity and sedentary lifestyle. Reversible or modifiable risk factors means that the risk can be change actively by patient lifestyle changes or medications. There are many non-reversible risk factors such as familial history, ageing, male sex, certain races and may be certain infections.
