Dr Adrian Ooi is a reputed pioneer in minimal invasive cardiothoracic surgery (CTS). A British trained surgeon after 20 years reside in United Kingdom and was trained by many world renowned surgeons namely Professor John Wallwork (Heart Transplant surgeon), Frank Wells (Mitral Valve surgeon) at Cambridge Papworth Hospital, Professor Patrick Magee (UK Chief of Cardiac Surgery) at London Chest and St Bart’s Hospitals, James Monro (President of EACTS), Steve Livesey (Mitral Valve and heart failure surgeon) and David Weeden (NUSS procedure) at Southampton University Hospital.

Dr Ooi was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRCS Cardiothoracic Surgery) and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2008. Dr Adrian Ooi graduated from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1996, did his post-graduate training at East Anglia Surgical rotation at Cambridgeshire, and higher surgical training at London and Wessex Deanery.

He obtained Specialist Registration (NSR) for Cardiothoracic Surgery in United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia.

Dr Adrian Ooi was invited by Singapore in 2009 to work as consultant CTS at 3 hospitals - Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), National University Hospital Singapore (NUHS) and Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital (KTPH).    Dr Ooi was the pioneer in setting up cardiac services, appointed Chairman of Enterprise Risk Management and Century of Surgical Services at TTSH. He made advances in minimal invasive surgery, and in 2013 proudly became the first none-Singaporean to be appointed as Consultant CTS at National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS).

Dr Adrian Ooi returned to Malaysia and worked at Prince Court Medical Centre in 2016. He also became examiner and lecturer for Perdana University Medical College RCSI while volunteered his service to government hospital and teaching minimal invasive CTS at Serdang Hospital, CTS Centre for Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia in 2018. Dr Ooi joined iHEAL Medical Centre in 2019.

As a competent surgeon, Dr Adrian Ooi has performed more than 4000 cardiothoracic surgeries,             including Robotic Surgery and Uniport (single keyhole) Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS).     As Asia pioneer surgeon, he performed (MICS) CABG x3 and robotic surgery in Singapore since 2013, and was invited to perform Uniport VATS surgery for lung cancer, thymoma and all lung diseases across Asia in Singapore, China, Korea, Myanmar and Malaysia in 2013-2016.
